Women, Work and the Workplace
What does the workplace look like for women in rural India? This photo essay emerged as an attempt to answer the question; and the short answer is: every space, public or private, is her place of work. The family-owned do bigha zameen (less than an acre of land), the MGNREGA site, the landlord's paddy fields, the forest, the kutcha road that leads to water, her veranda, the self-help group (SHG), the local market, the school, the primary health centre (PHC), the anganwadi, her vendor cart, her corner shop and her home - you will find her working in all these places and then some more.
