Mahoba District. In 2 separate incidents of violence and shooting, 2 people have died in different villages in Mahoba’s Kabrai block. Criminal cases have been booked against the accused in both cases. While some of the accused have been caught in one case, the hunt is on for the others.
Tinduhi Pachpahra village, Mahoba. On the evening of 18 November, Dinesh and some of his relatives beat up Balveer and his family. Both groups are residents of the same village under the jurisdiction of the Khanna Police Station in Kabrai block. 60-year old Balveer succumbed to his injuries while his wife, son and daughter – in – law had to be rushed to the District Hospital in Mahoba with serious injuries.
Balveer’s son Harishankar said, ‘At about 6 p.m. on 18 November Dinesh along with Rakesh, Ranchhor, Ganesh, and Malkhaan showed up outside our house. All 4 of them were in an inebriated state and they started abusing my father. They were joined by Mathura, Lalji, Bhura, Suresh, and Tribhuvan. They were armed with lathis and axes and tried to enter our home. When my father resisted, they started beating all of us.’
Harishankar and his mother Bhuri and wife Bisan were also injured. Balveer bore the brunt of the attack and passed away on the way to the District Hospital.
Station Officer Nandlal Bharti at the Khanna Police Station said, ‘We are investigating as to what the possible reason behind this could be. No old enmity has come up yet. A case under Sections 147 and 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapons) and 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) has been registered against the accused.’ The accused have been missing from the day of the incident. Rakesh, Ganesh and Malkhaan were caught on 20 November.
Sijwaha village, Mahoba. In another part of Kabrai block, in Sijwaha village at about midnight on 16 November, a man was shot dead in his own house, while his wife was also injured and is recuperating in the District Hospital in Mahoba. The accused have been named as Neeraj, Motilalm Teerath Rajput nad the village head’s husband Shatrughan.
Rajababu, a resident of Sijwaha village was asleep in his house with his wife Malti, at the time of the incident. The Station Officer of the Srinagar Police Station Nayan Singh said that a case under Sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) has been filed. More than a week later, no arrests have been made in the case. Police personnel said that a hunt was on for the accused.
