भारत में प्रकाशित होने वाला बुंदेली भाषा का एकमात्र अखबार

खबर लहरिया बुन्देली भाषा में प्रकाशित एक आंचलिक समाचार पत्र है। इस पत्र को सन् २००९ के यूनेस्को साक्षरता पुरस्कार से पुरस्कृत किया गया है। यह पत्र दलित ग्रामीण महिलाओं द्वारा निरन्तर नामक अशासकीय संस्था के प्रोत्साहन से निकाला जाता है। इस अखबार को इलाके की बेहद गरीब, आदिवासी और कम-पढ़ी लिखी महिलाओं की मदद से निकाला जा रहा है।

संपादन और समाचार का पूरा काम महिलाएं करती हैं। अखबार बांटने के काम में पुरुष हॉकर मदद करते हैं। ग्रामीण महिलाओं के इस अखबार में काम करने के लिए कम से कम आठवीं कक्षा पास होना जरूरी है, लेकिन नवसाक्षर भी जुड़ सकते हैं।

इस अखबार में सभी तरह की खबरें होती हैं लेकिन पंचायत, महिला सशक्तीकरण, ग्रामीण विकास की खबरों को ज्यादा महत्व दिया जाता है। समाचार स्थानीय बुंदेली बोली में और बड़े अक्षरों में छापे जाते हैं ताकि नवसाक्षर महिलाएं आसानी से पढ़ सकें। राजनीतिशास्त्र से मास्टर डिग्री ले चुकीं मीरा ने कहा कि संवाददाता के रूप में गांव की गरीब महिलाओं के जुड़ने का उनके परिवार व समाज के लोग ही विरोध करते हैं। लेकिन अब यह कम हो गया है।

Khabar Lahariya is the only Bundeli language newspaper published in India. It is published from Karwi in Chitrakoot district and Banda in Banda district, both in Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state in India. The newspaper is written, edited, produced, distributed and marketed entirely by eight Dalit women. The readership of the fortnightly newspaper, which is priced at Rs 2, is more

than 20,000.The women who report the stories also edit, produce, distribute and market the newspaper. Meera Devi is the editor.

The newspaper was founded in 2002, initially as a four page weekly. Nirantar, a centre for gender and education in New Delhi, started the newspaper, which was initially seen as a women-only publication, even though it covers political news, crime reports, social issues and entertainment. Khabar Lahariya carries news that is primarily of interest to its rural readership, supplemented with some national and international news.

In 2009, the newspaper was awarded the UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize.Following this, there are plans to expand the newspaper to three districts in Bihar.
