Despite facing adversity from a young age due to the loss of her hand, she refused to let it define her future. Working in a brick kiln, Urmila found solace in the hope of something more, something different from her daily grind.

When she stumbled upon the Udaan Fellowship, the opportunity to explore rural journalism beckoned her, offering a path to a new horizon. Urmila seized the chance to break free from the monotony of brick-making and embrace a new calling.
Driven by her passion for storytelling and a desire to shed light on the unseen narratives of her community, Urmila dreams of a career as a journalist.
