Making Rounds to the Administration

 मुआवजा के करत मांग

Jawahar Nagar, Kabrai Block, District Mahoba.

50 people from here claim that their wells come within the area submerged under the Arjun Dam Project. These farmers have been making rounds to the administration in order to get their compensation.

Dayaram, Raju, Santram and Prabha Singh told us that they had dug wells in their fields, and while compensation for the land has been received at the rate of 13600 per hectare, but no compensation has been given for their wells. “We have submitted an application on 3 September 2013 at the weekly Tehsil hearing to the District Magistrate (DM) Anuj Kumar. He assured us that the money had come, and everyone would receive it soon. A month went by and their was no action. So on 12 November 2013 we submitted an application again, to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate. At present our wells are valued at 2 lakh. We are poor people. If we get our money, we can dig wells elsewhere.”

The Irrigation officer of the Irrigation Department Sughar Lal said, “For financial support for the farmers, the DM has determined, through a survey, who and how much compensation is to be given. The greater the age of the wells, the less the amount of compensation farmers will be due.”
